iPhone operator AT&T wants to standardize a single operating system for smart phones. The operator expects the majority of users will choose a smartphone around 2014, but now needs to prepare in advance so that no fragmentation occurs. That fragmentation makes it difficult to develop mobile applications. And what the platform is that? The iPhone is unlikely, because AT&T would depend on an appliance and handset maker.
